Consultation launched on Berkeley Green UTC

The first University Technical College in Gloucestershire, SGS Berkeley Green UTC has launched a public consultation.

Running until 22nd July the consultation offers members of the public, employers and interested young people the opportunity to learn more about the plans and give their feedback.

Prior to opening UTC's are required to undertake a consultation detailing their plans, admissions arrangements and proposed location. Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire and Bristol - SGS Berkeley Green UTC is planning to open in September 2017 at the proposed location in Berkeley.

During the election David Cameron announced there will be a UTC in every city, and follows the news of the first UTC to get an OFSTED grade 1 inspection; Reading UTC.

Principal Kevin Hamblin comments: "SGS Berkley Green UTC offers young people an exciting opportunity to specialise in either Digital Technologies or Advanced Manufacturing with clear progression routes to employment, apprenticeships and higher education. Employers will take a leading role in the design and content of the curriculum which will include engaging employer led projects."

More details can be found at the SGS UTC website - which also includes a link to an online survey.
